Three former Georgia nursing home employees now face criminal charges after being accused of ignoring an unresponsive World War II veteran who died in their care back in 2014.

The man's family secretly recorded a video of the incident, which shows the nurses failing to take life-saving measures and laughing as they try to start an oxygen machine for the ailing man.

The family of 89-year-old James Dempsey, who lived in Woodstock, Georgia, sued the Northeast Atlanta Health and Rehabilitation Center in 2014. The nurses facing the charges lost their jobs 10 months after the video surfaced in late 2015, and they surrendered their licenses in September 2017. But it wasn't until just four months ago that investigators from the Brookhaven Police Department opened a criminal investigation into the man's death.

Charges in the case were filed on Tuesday and nurse assistant Mable Turman and former nurses Loyce Pickquet Agyeman and Wanda Nuckles were arrested, according to People.

Agyeman faces the most serious charges of felony murder and neglect to an elder person. Turman is also charged with neglect to an elder person, and Nuckles is charged with depriving an elder person of essential services.
