There's nothing better than the perfect macaroni and cheese recipe when you're craving some serious comfort food, and there's no one better than Ree Drummond to take an ordinary recipe and kick it up a notch.

In a blog post from 2009, The Pioneer Woman calls mac and cheese "the food that is solely responsible for [her] bones and tissues multiplying and growing at a young age." Another fun fact? She said it was about the only food she ate until she was about 14 years old. That said, it's safe to say she knows what she's talking about when it comes to mac and cheese.

Even though Drummond's recipe seems pretty simple, there's one secret ingredient she uses to make her classic dish tastier than ever: dry mustard. "I love this ingredient in macaroni and cheese," she writes. "It provides a tangy sharpness without injecting a definable flavor."

Apart from the dry mustard, Drummond's recipe uses basic ingredients like dried macaroni and sharp cheddar cheese, along with a handful of other ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
