Julia Sugarbaker is moving on, y'all! The home that served as the fictional setting of the 1980s sitcom Designing Women has been on the market since last fall—and now the price has been upped from $950,000 to $975,000.
Although the show was set in Atlanta, the home that supposedly housed Sugarbakers & Associates is actually in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Italian-style estate at 1321 Scott Street, known as Villa Marre, was built in 1881 by Italian descendants Angelo and Jennie Marre. In recent years it has served as an event venue for weddings and other special occasions.
Located in the city's Quapaw Quarter, the 4,847-square-foot house has 4 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, 2 parlors, a library, kitchen and formal dining room, according to Arkansas Online. The building's basement provides additional square footage.
There's also a 2,247-square-foot carriage house with three rental apartments on property called, fittingly, the "Sugarbaker House."
The entire property is currently listed at $975,000. It's being offered as both a private residence and commercial space.
Before the current owners purchased Villa Marre, it was a residential home for eight years. Prior to that, it was open for tours as part of the Quapaw Quarter Association, dating back to 1979.
For any brides who've booked weddings at Villa Marre, fret not: The real-estate agent promises that any dates already scheduled for the venue will be honored as part of the sale contract.
