Grab your knitting needles, ladies. The American Heart Association is asking for volunteers to knit and crochet red hats for babies born in February at participating hospitals.

The "Little Hats, Big Hearts" campaign was designed to raise awareness about American Heart Month. Thousands of newborns will be given red hats to empower new mothers to live heart healthy lives and encourage their children to do the same.

If you know how to knit or crochet and you'd like to help honor babies, mothers, and heart healthy living, visit heart.org to learn more. The website offers patterns for the hats and information about where to send donations in your area.
