At the young age of 34, Wagner Lima was killed in a motorcycle accident on New Year's Day in Brazil, leaving behind friends, family, and a beloved horse, Sereno, who meant the world to him.

In fact, the bond between Wagner and Sereno was so strong, that when it came time for funeral arrangements, Wagner's brother knew Sereno had to be there. "This horse was everything to him," Wando Lima told Globo News.

Wando then went on to say that during the funeral Sereno sniffed the coffin and once confirming it was Wagner, laid his head down to be closer to his best friend and say his goodbyes – Sereno then followed the procession to Cajazeiras, Brazil, Wagner's final resting place, whimpering the whole way as he mourned the loss of his friend."It was as if the horse knew what was happening and wanted to say goodbye. All the way to the cemetery he would whimper and beat with his paws on the ground," he said.

Sereno will now live with Wando and his family, whom we hope will develop a special bond like the one Sereno and Wagner once had.
