After news broke of Today co-anchor Matt Lauer's firing, the ladies of The View discussed the allegations of his inappropriate sexual behavior during their show's "Hot Topics" segment.

While Sara Haines, former correspondent for Today, said she personally "had such great experiences with Matt," her co-host Meghan McCain didn't hesitate to share a long-held negative opinion of Lauer. (Click the video above to watch the full discussion.)

"I've never worked at NBC, I worked at MSNBC briefly but not NBC—the way Matt Lauer treated Ann Curry, that's when I was done with him," said McCain, referring to Curry's awkward 2012 exit fromToday, for which Lauer is often blamed.

McCain knows firsthand the impact a sexual misconduct scandal can have in a professional setting: She was working at Fox News when executive Roger Ailes was forced to resign following a sexual harassment lawsuit brought against him by anchor Gretchen Carlson.

"I just thought the way that they treated her on the way out—I love Ann Curry, I think she's one of the greatest journalists of our time—and I thought it was so disrespectful," McCain continued. "I just felt like, would you treat a man that way on the way out?"

On Wednesday, Curry toldPeople she was "still processing" Lauer's departure and didn't want to comment publicly on the matter, but said she's proud of the women who've come forward.

"I admire the women who have been willing to speak up both anonymously and on the record," said Curry. "Those women need to keep their jobs, and all women need to be able to work, to be able to thrive, without fear."
