When you imagine a romantic French abode, your mind probably races to stone walls with ivy crawling up the sides and an unbeatable view (only made better by a class of pinot). Well, this house checks off all of those boxes and then some, since you won't have to take a trip across the Atlantic Ocean to enjoy it. Nope. This 1925 cottage is actually located just 25 minutes from midtown Manhattan.
Perhaps that's what made it so appealing to Diane Sawyer, who used to own this home with her late husband Mike Nichols. The 2,708-square-foot home is built into the cliffs of the Palisades and looks out over the Hudson River, which we imagine offered some serious serenity to Sawyer whose days are action-packed with reporting duties. But even though the views from the balcony are breath-taking, inside isn't too shabby either.
Seriously, this cottage is as cozy as can be thanks to four fireplaces and hewn beams that bring a touch of rustic nature inside. There are also three bedrooms, including a private cottage that's offers a private escape for guests. Interested? It'll cost you. The home is on the market for a steep $4.6 million — but, come on, that view is (excuse the cliché) priceless.
