Since 2013, history buffs have been on a wild ride following Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and the rest of his brutish bunch on Vikings. Unfortunately, History Channel recently confirmed to Deadline that the show has been cancelled, and anyone who's been faithful to a series before (hello, Fixer Upper fanatics) knows the heartache Vikings fans are going through.

"#Vikings got cancelled!?" one stunned fan asked. "I can't believe it!!!! My heart is hurting," another viewer tweeted after hearing the news. "No, cannot cope with this, it can't end 😭 😭 😭 😭," another person in disbelief wrote. "That's really unfortunate.. this is by far one of my favorite shows," someone else lamented. "This is bad news," one person added. And one Twitter user seemingly summed up everyone's feelings by simply writing: "NOOO 💔 😭."

But don't plan the going away party quite yet: You still have some time to get in your weekly dose of norsemen before you have to say goodbye. Vikings will wrap up the fifth season with a finale on Wednesday, January 30—but the show still has one more season to air, too. Although there's no official premiere date for the sixth season, Deadline predicts that the final installment is "expected to debut later this year, with the last episodes likely airing in 2020."

Deadline also adds that discussions for a spin-off are already in the works. The outlet notes that Michael Hirst, the creator of the saga, is behind the possible future follow-up.
