Over the course of a 70-year-long marriage, Martin and Rose Napolitano made memories that could spill into another lifetime.

Fitting then, that Martin, 91, would serenade Rose, 90, with Helen Reddy's "You and Me Against the World," a song about a memory — Reddy sings about a silly trip to the circus that, in the end, holds a special place in her and her love's memory vault. Through it all, "You can count on me to stay," she hums.

Martin, on oxygen, holds his wife to his chest as he repeats her words. "We did it, honey," he said, after finishing the song. "We did it." After 70 years together, Reddy's words came true for them — they most certainly did count on each other to stay.

Martin's next words reveal that other people were counting on their relationship, as well. "Our grandchildren are proud we did it," he said, taking his wife's hand. "We did it right to the top."

The minute-long video is an intimate glance inside a relationship that, at the time of it's filming in June 2016, was obviously still ripe with affection. Unfortunately, Martin, a World War II veteran, passed away in October — making his song choice all the more salient.

"And when one of us is gone,/And one of us is left to carry on,/Then remembering will have to do,/Our memories will get us through," Martin crooned on that special day in June.
