On last Wednesday's episode of Alaskan Bush People, it was revealed that the Brown family's matriarch, Ami Brown, has been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer after a biopsy revealed a cancerous mass in her lungs

Season 7 of the show started filming almost three months ago, according to People, so fans have been waiting for the latest news on Ami's cancer, which her husband, Billy, has said could "easily be stage 4," but more testing needs to be done. On Sunday, Ami's eldest son, Matt, finally shared an update on his Facebook page, along with a sweet photo of his mom.

"Ami is such a strong woman and we trust she can overcome this illness. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers!" he wrote in the caption of the photo, taken a few days ago.

As we saw on last week's episode of Alaskan Bush People, Ami's family is standing by her, but they're worried about the future. "In one way, I can say that everything in my life has prepared me for this moment. In another way, nothing can," Matt said on the show.

"To see mom not wanting to get out of bed because it might hurt to walk around the room, that was really difficult," said Bam Brown, who left the bush in 2016, but reunited with his family after hearing the news about Ami, according to People. "And then when I gave mom a hug, I felt how thin she was. So yeah, that hit me pretty hard. As prepared as I was to walk into the room and go into that, it's different when you're there."

Ami's son Bear said that although he's been "in burning buildings, sinking boats, and stared gigantic bears down" with no fear, this is different. "It's mom," he said, also according to People.
