We all know that old nursery rhyme about the old woman who lived in a shoe. This rental home in downtown Huntsville, Texas takes that poem to a new level that's perfectly, undeniably Texan.

Located just 70 miles north of Houston, the 35-foot-tall cowboy boot home is hard to miss. It was designed by Dan Phillips of Phoenix Commotion, a local company that's built more than two dozen unique, eco-friendly homes from recycled and salvaged materials in Huntsville since 1997, according to KTRK. For Dan, seeing this particular house come to fruition was a long-held dream coming true.

"Since I was a child, I was always fascinated by creating houses that looked like homes in story books. I just love storybook architecture," Dan told KTRK. "I always thought I wanted build a house that looked like a shoe, but after all, this is Texas." So naturally, a cowboy boot would be its final form.

At 900 square feet, the two-bedroom, one-bath home is 65 percent made of recycled materials, says Dan in a video tour of the home. Inside you'll find an eclectic mix of materials, with walls made of gymnasium floorboards and corrugated tin, one ceiling that's adorned with album covers, kitchen drawer handles made of belt buckles, a mosaic granite floor, and a set of windows that's converted from an old French door. Climb the bright red spiral staircase, and you'll reach a private deck on top of the boot, which offers a view of downtown Huntsville.
