This past Saturday, Nov. 4, actor and Texas native Matthew McConaughey celebrated his 48th birthday. But rather than indulging in a lavish birthday party, the Hollywood hunk chose to give back.

Matthew visited Kentucky, where he teamed up with 250 volunteers from bourbon distillery Wild Turkey to deliver 4,500 frozen turkeys to local families ahead of Thanksgiving. According to People.com, the group passed out turkeys, donated by Butterball, to every family within the city limits of Lawrenceburg as part of the "Wild Turkey Gives Back" project, an initiative designed to spread holiday cheer in the community.

While Matthew is primarily known for his roles in movies like How to Lose a Guy In 10 Days and The Wedding Planner, the star also serves as creative director for Wild Turkey and runs his own charitable organization, the Just Keep Living Foundation.

"Thank you for being here and giving up your Saturday for this," Matthew said in a speech to fellow volunteers, which he shared on Facebook. "We believe in our family that the more you're thankful for, the more you're going to create in your life to be thankful for."

Local families were obviously thrilled to see him show up on their doorsteps. One group of women even shrieked when they saw him at the front door. "What a good and generous heart he has," one Facebook commenter wrote. "He can show up at my door anytime." Agreed!
