There are many advantages to kids playing sports, however, that doesn't stop many parents from being nervous about whether their children will get hurt on the field. No one knows that better than John Curtin, who recently shared a post on Facebook of a shirt he claims may have saved his son's life during a Little League game.

His 11-year-old son, Ryan, was pitching for his team when "one of the hardest hit line drives" hit him right in the middle of his chest Curtis wrote. But luckily, Ryan was wearing a shirt with heart padding, which had absorbed the impact of the hit.

"For all you parents that have children that pitch, do me a favor and run out and buy a heart guard shirt for your child. My 11 year old Ryan wears one and it literally might have saved his life today," John Curtin wrote on Facebook.

Getting hit with a baseball can hurt and even be fatal. Curtin explains that had Ryan not worn this heart guard shirt, he could have been a lot worse off. A heart guard shirt is designed with extra padding to protect one's chest from a "hard blow," Scary Mommy explains.

While Under Armour discontinued the heart guard shirt that Ryan was wearing, plenty of other brands have their own heart guard shirts or removable heart guard pads that go over your jersey, which makes them ideal for baseball, softball, and lacrosse players. These shirts usually range from $30-$60, but that's a small price to pay when it could save your child from suffering serious injuries during the game or practice.

Curtin's post has been shared over 73,000 times with more parents looking into heart guard shirts so their kids won't get too badly hurt when they step onto that baseball diamond (because we can't just wrap them in bubble wrap, right??).
