It's never easy to lose someone who had such a positive and loving impact on your life. Unfortunately, that's exactly what singer Miranda Lambert is dealing with right now, and fans are rallying around her for some extra support.

Over the weekend, the "If I Was A Cowboy" singer took to Instagram to post a tribute for one of her "most treasured friends, bandmates and road family members, Scotty Wray." Since the young age of 17, Miranda worked with Scotty who served as not only a friend, but also as a mentor throughout her career. Her heartwarming post, that includes throwback photos of the two (including their matching arrow tattoos), begins with Miranda saying, "Heavy heart post💔. Last night I lost one of my most treasured friends, band mates and road family members, Scotty Wray. We met in 2001 in Greenville Texas. I was 17 . That was the beginning of our journey together. We went through so much life together on and off the stage."

Miranda continues her caption by expressing how Scotty was always there for her even during some rough patches in her long, successful career. She continues by explaining that "[Scotty] was the one I could count on. Always. No matter what. If he was there on my right side I felt like I could take on the world. Scotty Wray was family to me and I’ll never sing a note without him because I know he is there with me. He always has been."

Of course, fans and friends were quick to rush to support Miranda. People including singers Natalie Hemby, Karen Fairchild, Hillary Scott, and Dierks Bentley left messages sweet enough to help mend a broken heart:

  • "Love Scotty and love you! No more pain and he’s singin’ and playin’ on those streets of gold!!❤️❤️❤️"
  • "Oh man I'm so sorry for your loss. ❤️"
  • "💔 so sorry, Miranda. i always loved Scotty and felt looked after whenever he was around. hellacious player and one of the best laughs i’ve ever heard."
  • "💔 thinking of you and will always smile when I think of him."

When Miranda's career was beginning to blossom, she didn't have a full band–just her and Scotty with a guitar. As time went on and Miranda's career started to catapult her into country music stardom, Scotty was always a constant in her whirlwind of a life. He remained Miranda's bandleader and co-wrote multiple songs, including "Easy Living" and "Scars," just to name a few.

Miranda finishes Scotty's heartwarming tribute by writing, "Heaven is lucky cause that honky tonk band up there just gained another guitar pickin angel. Rest easy my love."
